Budget Prom
Here are some suggestions on how to look and feel good on a small budget:
* * *
1. GOWN: Firstly decide on the colour of your gown and then is it a long or short , I would recommend you look in the sale gowns if a long gown, for short gowns we do have some good prices in our short prom
.
2. HAIR: We all like a new style for a special occasion to save on salons try these few tips:
.
a. LONG STRAIGHT HAIR: Back comb the crown of the hair, leave two long parts of hair out at the front, then take two thick hair pieces from the sides and clip back, the remaining hair use large curlers to make a wave.
.
b. LONG CURLY HAIR: Use straightners and back comb the crown, leave a little hair out at the front and pull back the sides and clip
.
c. RECOMMENDED HAIR CLIPS: Slides that match your gown, add a few hair grips to make it more secure.
.
d. SHORT HAIR;
Blow dry hair to a different parting, this usually makes your hair look very different, you could also add a dressy slide comb to the side with diamantes or a flower.
.
3.CORSAGE:
Make your own corsage:
Buy 1.5 inch ribbon, the colour of your gown and buy an artificial flower, 6 inches of double sides Velcro, safety pin or super glue.
Measure the ribbon around your wrist, cut and iron the ends under, add the double sided Velcro on each side, underneath the side you are going to hold it to, use a safety pin or super glue to add your flower at the centre of the ribbon of your wrist. This could be matched with your own made hair comb:
.
4. HAIR COMB:
Buy a tooth comb, use superglue to the end, add your own flower to match your Corsage or you could use stick on diamantes or stick on coloured stones, then push into sides of hair and twist had a couple of hair grips to secure.
5. MAKE UP:
For those of you who do not usually wear make up, here are a few tips:
a. Keep it natural, add a little eyeshadow to the corner of your eyes, blend up and under, graduate in a a light creamy sparkly shade towards your eyebrows.
b. Add a light stroke of blusher that suits your skin tone, over your cheek bones.
c. I do believe lipstick for young ones is not as popular, use a light lipliner to enhance your lip and finish with a clear lip gloss.
d. Finish with a mascara, ensure you take off the excess on the brush before applying, to avoid clogging.
.
6. NAILS: a. Short nails: use a sparkly clear nail polish, lighter colours make the nails look longer, add the same to your toe nails.
.
b. Long nails, use a sparkly colour to match your gown, also add to your toe nails.
.
c. Add 2 coats of your polish, with a clear top coat to seal, all 3 of your coats of polish start in the centre and then each side once, let dry in between.
.
7.SHOES: Silver shoes are what we recommend as they go with every colour apart from gold, they look dressy without being too expensive, or perhaps your mum or a family member has shoes to match your gown you could wear.
8.PRACTICE:
Get together with your friends and practice a few weeks prior to your prom.
.
9. LIMOUSINE:
On a small budget this is far too expensive, perhaps one of your friends parents have a nice car, they would take you in and perhaps they would let you decorate this with balloons and streamers.
